Wraithal Discrimination: It’s Not Easy Being Green
A tongue in cheek documentary about Atlantis’ Big Bad, the Wraith. We learn that there are just a handful of actors who portray all of the Wraith. The two Wraith actors who do most of the talking are pretty funny, and one of them even has a lovely singing voice. We also learn that the main cast thinks Wraith are hot and would totally do a Wraith. You know, they’re all statuesque, with long, flowing white hair, and lots of leather.
Audio Commentaries
The Storm and The Eye: Director Martin Wood, writer Martin Gero, actor David Hewlett. These are the people I want to hear talk about these two episodes, the writer and director especially. I’m insanely curious about how screen writers do their thing, and these are two extremely well-written episodes, so it was cool to hear Martin Gero’s take on his scripts and their execution on film. And David Hewlett is always funny. Wood and Gero reveal all sorts of interesting trivia, like the candle obras on the table on that world the Atlantis refugees are going to, which are the same obras from Underground in which the team had dinner with the Genii. This shows that that culture had contact with the Genii. Also, they agree that Robert Davi (Kolya) is pretty much made of awesome.
The Defiant One: Director Peter DeLuise and stunt coordinator Dan Shea. By his own admission, Dan Shea had nothing to do with this episode, although he’s worked on the Stargate franchise for years. Still, he had interesting things to say. For instance, we learn that the puddle jumper prop is like the T.A.R.D.I.S. from Dr. Who: It’s bigger on the inside than on the outside. Dan Shea even points out that the bugs look just like the ones from Prodigy. It’s cute that he’s such a Stargate nerd.
Mission Directive: The Storm/The Eye
How they made the set and the actors very cold and very wet for these spectacular episodes.
